In terms of the shape of the pitchers, there are many similarities between Sarracenia catesbaie and Sarracenia smoorii. They are also similar in height. The greatest difference is in the lid. Whereas the Sarracenia smoorii has a decorative wavy lid, that of the Sarracenia catesbaie resembles a pointed cap. It is the only one of its species with this characteristic lid.
